Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

The project is intended to give students the chance to study a topic in the field in depth and to apply his/her theoretical knowledge to a practical situation. Whilst working on the project he/she learns to direct their own work, be critical of his/her own methods and also learns to construct project performance and to write a report presenting their results and reasoning.

Demonstrate the ability to produce solutions to moderately complex technical problems. Develop a project plan, including a timeline for completing components of the project, and identify resources required to complete the project Select and use the appropriate mix of technologies for the project Demonstrate the project to a panel of examiners (including the supervisor) and be able to discuss the achievements and limitations of the project Report (in written form) the work done on the project with references to previous work and including recommendations for future work.

Work on their own, with the support of the supervisor, drawing on their education and experience to solve problems encountered during the project
