Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This module serves as the Research Project module and tutorial space as part of a new Level-9 Professional Diploma in Public & Patient Involvement. This module will serve as a an interactive and collaborative co-learning and self-assessment space for students enrolled in this new programme It will run concurrently with other programme modules throughout the duration of the programme (2 semesters: Autumn, Spring), however will only be registered for in the spring semester. Through a shared learning experience, students will be supported in their progress through developing and conducting their participatory research project and integrating learnings from the other modules in this programme. The 'tutorial' component is based on the successful experience in running a 'PPI Club' since 2018 in the SoM as a monthly collaborative, self-help space for students and faculty undertaking participatory or PPI research projects and requiring expert and peer support while doing so.

Syllabus:

This module will run throughout the course of the Professional Diploma in PPI and constitutes the credits for the final research project. It will consist primarily of independent work, however will also provide bi-monthly tutorial sessions to provide structured and peer-support for students undertaking their research projects.
