Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This module is the second of two modules and the final dissertation module where students will complete data collection, analysis, write up and dissemination of their project. Students have the option of presenting their findings in thesis or journal publication format.

Syllabus:

The module will be largely self-directed where students will work closely with their Supervisor and other members of their research team in analyzing data and preparing their research project for dissemination.

Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

Contextualize and relate research findings to existing knowledge, theories and evidence as appropriate. Analyze and interpret research findings. Interpret and critique the findings and research process and its limitations in light of recommended best practice in research. Present research findings in either thesis or journal publication format. Demonstrate time management skills by meeting specified deadlines.

Justify the findings and process of the research project.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

This module will build on the previous module Dissertation I. Students will continue to engage with their project of choice collecting and analyzing data and preparing to present their work in thesis or journal publication format. A discussion forum will provide students with the opportunity to showcase their work and obtain formative feedback from their peers, academic supervisors and tutors. The education approach undertaken in this module will encourage self-directed learning, reflection on personal experience and critical thinking. The discussion forum will enable students to engage in collaborative learning. This task based approach and learning environment will stimulate students to be knowledgeable, proactive, creative, collaborative, articulate and responsible in line with the attributes required of all graduates of the University of Limerick. The module is M graded with "Research Dissertation (Part I)".
