Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This is a follow up module to Dissertation 1. Its purpose is to provide a scaffolding to bring the research dissertation to final completion stage.

Syllabus:

Students will be required to progress their research dissertation work through a number of milestones from the data collection and analysis phase to the discussion, final write up and presentation of the dissertation.

Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

Critique the conflicting political and theoretical perspectives in relation to evidence-based research in the field of guidance counselling. Discriminate between complex theoretical paradigms in the discipline of guidance counselling research and closely related discipline areas. Demonstrate ability to source and evaluate a broad range of relevant literature through different sources such as textbooks, academic journals and online databases. Select and apply appropriate methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) in the design and execution of a research project. Synthesise ideas and concepts in order to generate new approaches or models for practice arising from their research project.

Display a reflexive understanding and commitment to ethical research practice as a practitioner- researcher.
