Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This module aims to support students to complete their process of researching and writing their masters dissertation. Under supervision (online), students will have implemented their research plan; they will hone their analytical skills through the process of data analysis and will develop their academic writing and argumentation skills by completing the write up of their dissertation. They will also strategize for the dissemination of their research. Educational Leadership Dissertation 2 will clear M Grade for Educational Leadership Dissertation 1.

Syllabus:

Application of conceptual and theoretical frameworks; data analysis; report writing; scholarly argumentation; academic writing; research dissemination.

Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

Students will: • Deepen their critical thinking during the practice of data analysis with the perspective of production of a scholarly research report. • Demonstrate their understanding of the importance of conceptual and theoretical framework as evidenced in the application to their research outcomes.

Affective (Attitudes and Values)

Students will: • Appreciate the importance of scholarly dispositions as researchers.

Psychomotor (Physical Skills)

• Undertake report writing and dissemination strategy.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

Students will work under the supervision of a master's supervisor. Supervision will occur on a one to one basis online via UL's chosen learning-management system SULIS Flexibility is a core aim of this online delivery. Some asynchronous podcasts will also be provided to motivate and deepen the scholarly thinking during the project write up. A discussion forum will also be moderated which will bring students together for shared conversations and support and will be facilitated by an online moderator.
