Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

Is é cuspóir an mhodúil seo ná go bhfaigheadh an mac léinn léargas ar ábhar, ar fheidhmeanna agus ar shaibhreas an traidisiúin bhéil, agus ar úsáid na Gaeilge i gcomhthéacs na n-ealaíon dúchasach sa lá atá inniu ann. Táthar ag súil leis go mbeidh cur amach ag an mac léinn ar shaintréithe chanúint na Mumhan i ndiaidh dó/di tabhairt faoin modúl seo. Chuige sin díreofar ar chnuasaigh na dtograí Béaloidis ag Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne agus ar acmhainní ó TG4, ó Sheinnteoir an Oireachtais agus ó Raidió na Gaeltachta. Spreagfar an mac léinn chun machnamh a dhéanamh ar bhealaí chun an traidisiún béil a chur chun cinn ina c(h)eantar féin chomh maith. [Translation for internal purposes only] The aim of this module is to give students an insight into the content, function and richness of the oral tradition, and into the use of Irish in the contemporary indigenous arts context.
