Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
1. To develop in the student an understanding of and insight into the management of an insurance organisation in the current economic and legal environment.
2. To examine the nature of the interface between insurance organisations and regulators.
3. To introduce students to the theory and practice of insurance institutions and to acquaint students with the complex and rapidly changing environment within which insurers operate. Stress will be given to the achievement of appreciation of recent developments in the field.
Syllabus:
Develop in the student an understanding of and insight into the management of insurance organisations in the current, social, economic and legal environment. Examine the nature of the interface between insurance organisations and regulators. Introduce students to the theory and practice of insurance institutions and to acquaint students with the complex and rapidly changing environment within which insurers operate. Stress will be given to the achievement of appreciation of recent developments in the field.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
The student will attend lectures, take part in discussion during tutorials and engage in self-directed research and proactively engage with assigned course material. An end-of-term assignment is required to allow students to illustrate and analyse the knowledge gained throughout the module and apply to industry risk scenarios. The process is continuously reviewed throughout the semester, feed-back is given and students are held responsible for their own learning through self-evaluation techniques.
