Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
The Experiential Anatomy and Movement Analysis module introduces the principles of anatomy and movement analysis to dance students. The module aims to develop an awareness of the relationships between body awareness, dance training, fitness, health and injury prevention.
Syllabus:
This module will introduce an understanding of the fundamental principles of anatomy and introduce students to the principles of movement analysis to develop an understanding of the functions and structure of the human body.
Learning Outcomes:
Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)
To enable students to describe movement in anatomical and analytical terms.
To enable student understanding of the functions and structure of the human body.
Affective (Attitudes and Values)
To ensure that students understand the importance of warm up and cool down practices
Psychomotor (Physical Skills)
To enable students to apply anatomical principles to related movement activities and choreographed sequences.
To enable students to apply analytical concepts to movement activities.
How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
The module is taught through lectures, workshops and seminars where students are encouraged to take responsibility for understanding how the body moves and for relating anatomical knowledge to their performance practice.
