Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
This module is designed to facilitate students in the production of an independent piece of research.
Syllabus:
Production of a research supervisor; allocation of supervisor; supervisory meetings; 6500-8000 word research paper; theoretical or empirical orientation.

Review an existing body of literature.
Specify the relevance and the significance of the research to academic and professional audiences.
Interpret, reflect upon, and present research findings.

Appreciate and value their research efforts.

Design and implement an appropriate research strategy.
Organise and manage personal resources and work to a set deadline.
How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
Students will meet with supervisors on a regular basis. The supervisor's advice will cover major points of substance rhater than points of detail and will result initially in a clear programme of research. The remainder of the student experience will be structured by private study.
