Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
The Cross-Arts Ensemble 2 module is designed to build on students' experiences and learning in cross-arts practices in the Cross-Arts Ensemble 1 module. The Cross-Arts Ensemble 2 module further develops students' skills in interdisciplinary, collaborative creative practices. The Cross-Arts Ensemble supports engagement between dancers and musicians working together to devise and realise new artistic work. This module will have a prerequisite: 3236 Cross-Arts Ensemble 1.
Syllabus:
The Cross-Arts Ensemble 2 module deepens students' engagement with collaborative, cross-arts practices. Under the mentorship of music and dance faculty members, students continue their study of interdisciplinary, collaborative artistic practices and strategies, and develop creative leadership skills through engagement in the co-creation and presentation of new artistic works.
Learning Outcomes:

• Deepen understanding of other art forms and a variety of cross-arts, collaborative process and practices.
• Expand arts practice vocabulary.
• Develop knowledge of a diverse range of artistic concepts.
• Acquire teamwork skills through co-creation of artistic works.
• Evaluate their own artistic practice and that of other ensemble members.
• Apply skills particular to their own art form in a cross-arts context.
• Synthesise the diverse skills of ensemble members to create original artistic work.
Affective (Attitudes and Values)
• Develop enhanced communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective artistic collaboration.
• Cultivate sensitivity to and appreciation for the creative expressions of other ensemble members.
• Negotiate in a respectful and ethical way the differences between different artistic practices, artistic values and artistic aims.
• Value the creative ideas of other ensemble members.
Psychomotor (Physical Skills)
• Develop skills appropriate to instrumental and vocal music performance and movement-based artistic practices, including music and dance.
How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
This module is taught through weekly, mentor-led group workshops and rehearsals. Students learn to work collaboratively to create artistic works and build important relationships with each other. UL Graduate attributes are core to the ethos of this module, developing creative practices through the development of embodied knowledge. Students learn to cultivate and articulate responsible styles of performance in diverse idioms, including music and dance.
