Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
To provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in
1. Providing weekly regular clinical work to clients in a health, welfare, community or education setting
2. Learning in context to apply the framework of assessment, programme planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting
Syllabus:
Students will continue a fieldwork placement alongside a qualified music therapist in a health, welfare, community or educational setting in Ireland up to two days per week. In this supervised fieldwork placement students will develop competencies in planning and leading sessions with music therapy clients. Students will gain information about the role of the facility in addressing needs of clients and the role of music therapy within the broader operational remit of the facility.

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of clients in the assigned fieldwork context through reading, observation and consultation with experts
2. Generate and/or use assessment and evaluation instruments appropriate to the fieldwork context
3. Critique and evaluate current models of intervention and their applications for the benefits of clients/service users/patients
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the key requirements for work within a multidisciplinary team

1. Demonstrate the ability to be a ôsensitive responderö to issues and challenges experienced and related by clients
