Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
This module develops techniques and skills in the student in order to implement and oversee successful community music programmes. Attention is directed to the overall scope and sequencing of a music project from beginning to end.
Syllabus:
Practical models, frameworks and techniques are provided in order to facilitate successful community-based music programs in a variety of different settings, and to further critical analysis and reflective practices. Emphasis is placed on reflective
practice and evaluation of programs. Content focuses on determining scope and materials appropriate to and desired by a given community, planning and evaluating workshops, structuring residencies and groupwork, presentation skills, marketing, relationship development, financial planning, fund-raising, using resources and networks, evaluating and writing up project summaries.

1. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to create a long-term plan for the Community Musician
2. Display the ability to present a successful community music project pitch
3. Synthesise organisational and reflective thinking in the Community Music context
4. Demonstrate understanding in relation to the creation of successful organisation in the context of the Arts
Affective (Attitudes and Values)
1. Value the community music project and the discipline of planning in the community context
Psychomotor (Physical Skills)
1. Display musical competencies required by the community musician in relation to creating and sustaing practice
How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
Lectures, workshops, tutorials and site visits. The module will be taught in workshop and/or small group format.
Graduate attributes are developed in this module by enabling knowledge, reflective thinking, creativity, reponsibility and an increased skill in articulation.
