Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

The aim of this module is to provide direction and guidance for students as they continue their dissertation research. Students are encouraged to develop and progress their research under the guidance of their allocated supervisor

Syllabus:

Due to the range of dissertation subjects there is no formal syllabus for this module.Students are encouraged to meet with their supervisors on a regular basis to discuss their research topics, research questions and objectives, key authors in the area, research context, literature review, methodological issues amongst other areas relevant to the completion of their dissertation.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

This module will predominantly involve one-to-one meetings with their allocated supervisor. There will also be various seminars provided throughout the academic year. Students will be required to develop a research question and objectives, undertake a review of the relevant literature and prepare a dissertation following the dissertation guidelines. Students will demonstrate an ability to critically analyze and evaluate theoretical concepts or arguments in order to achieve valuable research outputs. This module will assist students with the development of a number of graduate attributes. They will develop the ability to become proactive and will use their research knowledge and skill gained through this module to engage with improvements and changes in organizations. As part of this module they will develop the skills required to present information and arguments to different organizational stakeholders. These outputs will add to the overall body of knowledge in the HR/ER/IR/OB/HRD areas to the benefit of both researchers and practitioners.
