Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This objective of this module is to develop students' knowledge and practical skills in the administration, interpretation, and evaluation of psychometric tests in occupational and organisational settings. Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of test theory and criteria used for assessing test quality. 2. Critically assess when psychometric tests are required in various work contexts, 3. Employ appropriate psychometric tests for a range of workplace contexts. 4. Implement all stages of psychometric assessments - administer, score, and interpret results on a range of psychometric tests. 5. Apply effective competencies (such as communication, professionalism and giving and receiving feedback) in the administration, interpretation and communication of psychometric tests.

Psychomotor (Physical Skills)

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to: N/A

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

To meet the module's learning outcomes, a combination of approaches is used. Classes take an integrated approach in an attempt to merge real life experiences with theoretical concepts and applications and include a component of independent study. Teaching includes lectures, class discussions, self-completion of psychometric assessments, demonstrations of best-practice, role plays, and debriefings. This module will develop several graduate attributes. First it will develop students as responsible graduate by its strong emphasis on ethical conduct in the administration, interpretation, and communication of psychometric tests. Second, the module is based on research, developing students as evidence-based practitioners knowledgeable in test theory, administration, and its application in different contexts, a key task in selection contexts, developing them as curious graduates. Finally, the module will develop students as articulate graduates, specifically their inter-personal skills through the key tasks in the module involving training and assessment of providing feedback on test results to others, requiring them to provide feedback in a clear, empathetic, and professional manner.
