Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

This is the second of two research project modules where students continue data collection, analysis and write up. Total hours scheduled for this module is 30 over 7 weeks. M graded with Research Project 1 - ID: 2706 This module has been previously offered as PR4006.

Syllabus:

The module will be largely self directed learning where students work closely with their supervisor and other members of their research team in progressing their project.

Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

Contextualise and relate research findings to existing knowledge, theories and evidence as appropriate. Interpret and critique the findings and research process and its limitations in the light of recommended best practice in research. Complete data analysis and interpretation of findings. Effectively manage time to meet deadlines.

Affective (Attitudes and Values)

Justify the findings and process of the research project

Psychomotor (Physical Skills)

Produce a summary of the findings for dissemination purposes to relevant groups using a suitable knowledge translation format

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

Students analyse and present their findings as an empirical journal article, developing skills in critical thinking, scientific analysis and academic writing. In addition they produce a dissemination output that befits their particular research findings and is a suitable form of translational research output. They are supported in this, via meetings with their supervisor and online tools for analysis and writing.
