Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

To provide core area coverage of the field of cognitive psychology - a sub-discipline of psychology concerned with the study of the mental processes that underlie human behaviour.

Syllabus:

Cognitive processes cover a broad range of research domains including; memory, attention, perception, knowledge representation, reasoning and problem solving. In this module, through an empirical (including practical demonstrations) and theoretical examination of cognitive processes, students will develop their knowledge of central aspects of cognition including perception, memory and attention.
