How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

The main teaching methodology for this course are lectures in order to introduce central topics from the field of social developmental psychology and diversity and intercultural relations at school. Active and collaborative methods of teaching and learning (class discussions; group exercises and presentations) will be used so as help students develop a critical knowledge of school based interventions relevant to promote positive intercultural relations in the school context. The group assignment where students have to address from an intervention perspective a specific social problem related to social diversity and intercultural relations in the school context will facilitate a deeper and critical understanding of how theory informs social interventions. The student is at the center of the teaching-learning process. To this end, the expository approach is complemented with active and collaborative methods of teaching and learning. The pedagogical perspective of the course strongly values an active role of the student in the discussion of the subjects presented in class, and the enrollment in individual and group exercises proposed by the teachers. There are a range of activities used to evaluate student performance and learning.
